The Pharmacological Study of Reynoutria Sachalinensis Nakai

Abstract
|
|
|
The Author observed the general Pharmacological features of an alcohol extract obtained from Reynoutria Sachalinensis Nakai and proceeded to study its effects on the estrous. cycle of the mature female mouse. The results are as follows:
1) This substance in. lower. concentrations (under 0.02%) proved to have a stimulating effect on the isolated intestinal segments of the rabbit- while at higher concentrations (above 0. 5%) it had an inhibitory effect.
2) The extract had. an inhibitory effect on the isolated frog heart.
3) The vessels of-.the rabbit ear were dilated by this Substance.
4) There was no noticeable change on the isolated rabbit uterus when a lower concentrations (under 0.. 02%) of this substance. An inhibitory effect was noted when the higher . concentrations (0.05.%0.5%) were used.
5) This substance seemed to shorten the estrus while the diestrus was. lengthened;_{ as compared to the normal estrous cycle of mice. At lower. concentrations between 1 mg./gm. (body weight) and 2mg./gm. (body weight), it>did not produce any noticeable change, while at_higher concentrations over 3mg./gm. (body weight) the. diestrus was lengthened.
